Submit your story to BuzzFeed!
I am posting this on behalf of Caroline Rothstein:
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS:
Hi everyone! I haven’t posted here in a long time! I am currently guest editing a piece for BuzzFeed on eating disorder “Survival Stories.” We are looking for a spectrum of eating disorder survival stories from all identities and experiences. The piece will be a curated sharing of approximately 15 stories, each being told autobiographically by the individual in roughly 3 to 4 paragraphs.
While this piece will be part of a larger BuzzFeed week in January titled “Women, Weight, & Feminism,” the call for this specific story is open to all gender and non-gender identities and voices.
If you or someone you know may be interested in lending a story and voice to this important piece, please email me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org with submissions, inquires, and/or questions.
All submissions must be in by Friday, December 19 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
Many thanks to all!
A SPECIAL NOTE ON MINDFULNESS:
For those submitting who do not know me personally or know my work around eating disorder awareness, recovery, and prevention – I am 31-years-old and now 10 years fully recovered from a decade-long eating disorder. I have been working in the eating disorder activist and nonprofit world for over 14 years in myriad capacities. I am also a journalist, and have written about my own story in many publications throughout my career. I am honored that BuzzFeed is willing to publish this story, and it is because of my work in the eating disorder activist, prevention, and recovery world that they wanted me to guest edit this piece. Thus, it will be with a particularly mindful, gentle, and supportive lens that I collect submissions and curate the final pieces chosen to ensure as much safety and as little triggering as possible for both those sharing their story, and those reading. My hope is that this piece will both empower those sharing and reading, AND let the masses know our stories cannot be sensationalized any longer.
